French Braid Twist by MOPS and Danielle Evans Photography
I am in love with the wedding braid trend I’ve seen this year, so I am very excited to share this unique french braid twist tutorial from MOPS Hair Designers and Danielle Evans Photography! Our bride’s beautiful make-up is by Suzanne Clayton Make-up Artist and her hair is finished off with a stunning floral comb from Beauty by Megan Floral Events. Give this great tutorial a try and let us know how it goes!
Tips Before Beginning
1. It is important to realize before starting this hairstyle, that it is named for the way it looks, not the way it is created. Deanna from MOPS shows that by crisscrossing and twisting pieces of hair and pinning them with bobby pins, you can create a twisted, french-braid look without actually braiding the hair.
2. This hairstyle relies heavily on using the correct size and type of bobby pins. Have the sizes and types of bobby pins seen in the below photo on hand before starting this hairstyle.
It is always easiest to create a wedding hairstyle after first fully curling the hair.
Gently run your fingers through the curls to loosen them. Next, create a halo section of hair in the back, twist it, and pin it with a bobby pin. This twist is going to be the center point for the rest of the hairstyle.
Collect hair from each side of the head, cross them over the center twist, and pin them with bobby pins.
Create a loop/curl from hair in the center of the head and pin it in place. Repeat step three, but this time, tuck the hair you gather from the sides of the head around the loop you just made. Repeat this process until you reach the bottom of the head.
Tip: If your hairstyle does not look just like these photos, THAT’S OK! This hairstyle is a free-from hairstyle that will look a little different each time you do it.
Braid the last portion of the hair and tie with a clear hairband.
Spend a few minutes going back with open bobby pins pinning the hair in various places to make it look more uniform. Open bobby pins are perfect for pinning hair that looks too loose or out of place.
Add a floral comb like this one or a hair accessory of your choice to finish of this bridal look!
