The majestic desert oasis of Peru
Only 8 kilometers south of the city of Ice in the southern part of Peru, there is a picturesque oasis of Huakačina (Huacachina). Built around a small natural lake and surrounded by huge drifting dunes stretching up to a few dozen meters in height, Huakačina has an incredible look at the distant Sahara station.
In fact, this oasis is only a few hours drive from the Pacific coast. Huakačina has long been a tourist destination for rich families from the nearby Ice Town, and for the last time, and for surfers on a fishing boat that enjoy surfing around the surrounding dunes.
Oasis is actually a set of restaurants and exclusive hotels gathered around the blue lagoon surrounded by huge drifting dunes. In the oasis itself, there are about 100 people who are engaged and are totally dependent on tourism.
Oasis was proclaimed during the 1940s and 1950s as the refuge of the Peruvian elite to get its resonance during the 1990s thanks to promotional tourist campaigns.
Oasis Huakačina is one of the last remaining natural oases in North and South America, and is also referred to as the “Oasis of America”.
